Hello! I don't really like formal studies very much, supposedly next year I should finish my Geography degree, and I had already wondered what I would do after that. I have really gotten quite tired of completing my studies in the conventional way, however, I love learning things, reading scientific publications, sharing knowledge and receiving education. Once I can become a geographer, if it is necessary to speak of "formal" studies, I would like to take courses or workshops on approaches to nature, such as bird monitoring, ecological planning and even ecological landscaping practices. Even so, sometimes when I like the university and I really feel it is very necessary, I would love to study a master's degree in oceanography at the University of Valparaíso, in order to know deeply what goes beyond the coastline and complement the GEO study a more complete look and manage to contribute with many more bases in the initiatives of conservation of the environment. This time I will talk to you about a socio-environmental conflict that occurs nearby the town where I currently live. “La Vega de Pupuya” Wetland is a coastal wetland that fulfills various ecosystem services to local communities, and houses a great diversity of plants and wild animal species, all of them an important part of humanity's existence. However, this ecosystem has been degraded and threatened by construction, tourism and the lack of awareness of the people who are related to this place. But mainly, it has been affected due to the mismanagement of the municipality, and the laws that allow economic development over the places that provide us with life and which are an important part of our spaces, either for recreation and contemplation. Here is a reflection on an urban phenomenon that is repeated in Latin America: Gentrification. Real estate capital, together with public institutions, converts cities, and especially their centers, into segregated spaces. A clear expression of this problem are the Latin American cities that, through several mechanisms, displace the population residing in these cores to give them elitist characteristics, either with housing features or cultural alternatives. Gentrification is not a process that occurs in a few cities, but extends to several of the world and Latin America. Hi! At 2019 in Pupuya, the town where I currently live, was developed a very memorable “ramada” (a musical event, where exists sale of potatoes, empanadas, drinks, alcohol, chicha, as well known as the Lollapalooza of countryside). That day was presented in the show "Los Llaneros de la Frontera", a ranchera and cumbia band, well known by the people of the commune. Together with my friends, we were very excited waiting for the show that started after 11pm, hoping to sing and dance the "corridos" and cumbias, however, at around 9pm, the "ramada" turned into chaos, because people were very upset and drunker than usual, causing the took of the stage, people talking on the microphones, singing and dancing on the stage and dance floor. The organizers of the "ramada" had to stop the entire event, closing the place and kicking the people out. Hello everyone, this is the first of my posts after a long time. Today I will tell you about something that excites me a lot. Indonesia has been part of my sad thoughts during this quarantine, because I believe that I will never be able to cross the borders again.                                                                  Thanks to my geography studies, I have learnt that it has an unimaginable natural wealth, where diverse cultures and religions coexists and as I do, love to go on excursions, learn about biodiversity, and know  other cultures that do not resemble mine, Indonesia seems to the perfect place to take some courses which teaches natural and cultural aspects of that country.
